Coronavirus
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus.
Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.
The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow).*

What We’re Doing
FIVDB is committed to the safety and health of its staff and beneficiaries. To reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, FIVDB is working to maintain its core programs remotely. This page will be updated as adaptations continue to be made.
FIVDB has established a telephone hotline for remote mental health support in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar. Trained volunteers and community facilitators are available 24/7 hours / day for confidential support.

The COVID-19 crisis has made FIVDB look at each of the core programs to see how they can continue to provide services to the people they serve while keeping their staff and volunteers safe. We have integrated COVID-19 community awareness programs into all our FIVDB programs.
